Sequencing Solutions By Scientists for Researchers

ubix bioinnovations

is a biotech company that provides DNA sequencing and analysis solutions for the environmental microbiology landscape. Our technologies and expertise help our clients:

What we offer

Microbiome Sequencing

Our technologies and expertise allow us to carry out DNA extractions and various sequencing assays for your microbial research needs.

Description

Our expert technical staff will prepare and sequence Illumina  or nanopore sequencing libraries from your samples. Our amplicon sequencing services include standard taxonomic marker-genes (16S rRNA, 18S rRNA and ITS) to identify which microbes are present and at what proportions.

We also provide sequencing of other common markers (bacterial ITS, mitochondrial 12S, rbcL, and cytochrome oxidase) and can sequence custom PCR amplicons of your gene of interest.

The ONT Nanopore and Illumina platforms are also used to generate shotgun and long-read amplicon sequencing data

We typically still use MiSeq, but we also use another Illumina platform now, the NextSeq.

Options

Amplicon sequencing at 30,000 paired reads/sample Illumina (2×250 cycles standard)

  • Bacterial / Archaeal: 16S V4 or V4-V5

  • Bacterial: ITS

  • Fungal: ITS1

  • Eukaryal: 18S V4-V5, rbcL, mitochondrial 12S/16S, and COI

  • Phototrophic (e.g., algal): V8-V9

  • Custom and long-read amplicon are also available

Metabarcoding Service

Our technologies and expertise allow us to carry out DNA extractions and various sequencing assays for your microbial research needs.

Description

Environmental DNA (eDNA) and metabarcode sequencing pose distinct challenges, including efficient DNA extraction, gene region selection, and taxonomic assignment. Our expert technical staff can extract high-quality DNA from a wide variety of sources and prepare sequencing libraries using standard or custom primer sets, whatever your project requires.

We also offer analytics of your sequencing results, including taxonomic assignment and statistical analysis of community composition.

Options

Amplicon sequencing at 30,000 paired reads/sample Illumina (2×250 cycles standard)

  • All markers available under Microbiome Sequencing

  • Common eDNA and metabarcoding markers, such as COI, rpoB, and mitochondrial rRNA (12S rRNA, 16S rRNA)

  • Custom markers provided by the client or designed by Metagenom Bio

  • Other sequencing platforms available

Hybrid Sequencing

Our genome sequencing using a hybrid method integrates short-read and long-read sequencing technologies, providing clients with a comprehensive, polished view of their organism’s genome.

Description

Like long-read methods, our hybrid sequencing approach produces more complete genomes, increasing the likelihood of capturing gene clusters or co-transcribed regions and enhancing clients’ understanding of genes involved in particular biochemical pathways.

Like long-read sequencing, hybrid sequencing is likely to generate complete circularized genomes, facilitating the tracking of genomic rearrangements and horizontal gene transfers, crucial for studying organismal evolution.

Additionally, our technique allows for the segregation of chromosomes from plasmids, an essential step in identifying and tracking antibiotic resistance and pathogenicity genes that spread disease in various economic sectors.

Our hybrid sequencing approach also provides high-accuracy gene sequence identification, thereby determining gene function and evolution with greater precision.

By maintaining the advantages of multiple sequencing platforms, our hybrid approach provides users with next-level genomic insights that accelerate hypothesis generation and analysis velocity.

Bioinformatics

Our bioinformatics and software engineering expertise enable us to quickly and thoroughly analyze your genomic data, generating insightful microbiome reports.

Description

Whether you’ve sequenced your samples with us or not, our bioinformatics team can use our optimized marker-gene and metagenomic pipelines to analyze your data. We can provide in-depth or basic analysis and reports, based on your needs and questions. Our bioinformaticians can also work with you on custom workflows, including analysis of metatranscriptome data.

Options
  • Level 1: alpha-diversity (species richness and diversity), taxonomy
  • Level 2: beta-diversity (compare samples based on taxonomic composition and sample metadata)
  • Level 3: further sample characterization (phylogenetic/taxonomic novelty, indicator species, mining for specific taxonomic data)
  • Metagenomics: assembled genomes, gene annotation, functional enrichment, bioprospecting (discuss analysis design with analytics team)
